Are you keen to learn more about how you can achieve a healthier diet? Do food labels confuse you? Do you find the social side of healthy eating a challenge?

Why not start 2018 on a positive note and take the first steps to improving your knowledge around diet and nutrition by attending our healthy eating workshops!

Our workshops will run over a 3-week period during the month of January. Each week our dietitian will cover a different (but important!) topic surrounding healthy eating.

The aim of these workshops will be to provide you with the information and tools you need to help you understand the principles of a healthy balanced diet.

We want to empower you with the knowledge to make positive changes for your health!

'2018 - Nutrition for a Healthy Start' is a programme of workshops delivered weekly for three weeks.

The Timetable

Week 1 - Overview of Healthy Eating

On week 1 we will discuss the principles of a healthy balanced diet and provide practical suggestions on how you can meet the recommended targets. We will look at individual food groups, portion sizes and and help you understand the Irish food pyramid.

Week 2 - Focus on Food Labels

On week 2 we will focus on food labelling. This will be a practical session teaching you how to read and understand the information on food packages. We will provide you with the tools to interpret if a food is high or low in fat, sugar or salt – helping you to make better choices for you and your family!

Week 3 - Healthy Eating & your Social Life

On week 3 we will look at the challenges of healthy eating while maintaining an active social life. We will discuss ways to ‘eat out’ and still eat healthy, look at ways you can make simple food swaps and look at what influence alcohol is having on your health or food choices.

Each week we will complete a short quiz and briefly recap on what was discussed in the previous session allowing you the opportunity to ask further questions or share your experiences!
